Getting started

Pick the guide for what you are setting up. Each one walks a project from an empty organization to a working result, with the product's own labels and screens.

Build Stream

Add the Build Stream service, connect GitHub, Bitbucket Cloud, Diversion or your hosted Perforce server, add branches with build configurations, and read your first build.

  1. 1Add Build Stream to a project
  2. 2Connect a repository
  3. 3Add a branch and pick build configurations
  4. 4Push, then read the build

Hosted Perforce

Choose the Free or Team plan, create a Perforce server on the platform or bring an existing one across, add your people, back it up, and start builds on every submit.

  1. 1Pick a plan and create a server, or migrate one in
  2. 2Install P4V, connect, and add your people in P4Admin
  3. 3Back up and export your data

Build actions

Already building with Build Stream? Run your own Python or JavaScript scripts at fixed points in every build: generate code, add files to the package, publish the result, or report when the build ends.

  1. 1Ask support to turn build actions on
  2. 2Add a script to .dsl/build_actions/ in your repository
  3. 3Keep tokens in Build Action Secrets
  4. 4Push, then read the script's step in the build log

Hosted Perforce comes in two plans. Free holds a small team at no cost; Team is billed per person and adds code review and a standby server. What each includes, how people are counted and what happens when a payment fails are on Plans, people and billing.
